there have been lots of Herods. But the Harod everyone knows about (and the Herod everyone hates!) is the Herod that renovated the Temple mount in Jerusalem, built Masada and killed all those children in hopes that he got that one Jewish guy named Yeshua, otherwise know as Jesus - hey the kid was gonna take his crown away.
Well they finally found him! they got his Tomb but found that the Jewish revolt in 67 C.E. (the one that resulted in the destruction of the Temple and the final Diaspora of the Jewish people) got to him first...ah well. its tough being the bad guy sometimes...
